International Day of the Girl Child is an opportunity to celebrate the power of young girls, highlight the challenges they face, and advocate for their empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. International and national efforts to promote gender equality are chronically underfunded, particularly when compared to other priorities outlined in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
